  11. I've had two problems running the 3.96.4 QVT/Net with Trumpet Winsock
  12. 1.0A on a slip line.
  13.
  14. 1.  QVT/Net froze.   Had to kill it and then Trumpet had the "reentrancy"
  15. errors.   Finally had to reboot the system to correct....
  16.
  17. 2.  Ran WinVN attempting to send mail using smtp.  It never delivered
  18. it.  Then ran QVT/Net.  As soon as I tried to connect to a host, it UAE'd.
  19. Had a session of WS_FTP running at the time that continued to work.
  20. When ws_ftp finished, I then connected to a different host, and ws_ftp
  21. then UAE'd.   Might have been a problem with name resolution??? in
  22. the Trumpet Winsock???    Next attempt to run ws_ftp was ok but
  23. couldn't get qvt/net or winvn to run again.  Had to exit windows and slip
  24. connection and restart all to correct.

  50. Hosts files are usually used by those who don't have a DNS or those who
  51. need to list hosts that are not present in the DNS.

  209. Subject: Need Slip server for SUNOS
  210.
  211. Is there a SLIP server that I can compile and run under SUNOS or
  212. Solaris? I currently connect to my university's terminal servers which
  213. support slip, but they restrict IP connections to only machines on our
  214. subnet (i.e. on campus), so I can't go off campus. As a result,
  215. running applications like winmosaic and gopher is a little meaningless
  216. because they only work for the local WWW servers.
  217.
  218. I want to be able to use trumpet to connect to my modem servers, then
  219. log into my Unix account, and start a slip server. That way I could
  220. get off campus without a problem.
  221.
  222. Also, is there a newsgroup that this posting would be more appropriate
  223. for?
  224.
  225. Thanks for any info. I will summarize if there is interest.
